Your Summer of Fun With Fido & Friends

Summer has begun! That means more dogs out in the neighborhood and more dog-friendly events. From yappy hours to group hikes, when people get together with their dogs it's bound to be a good time.

Some people are fortunate enough to have group of friends who have dogs, but if your local crew doesn’t involve 4-legged companions, there are a number of ways to meet fellow dog owners to go on adventures with.

Join a Meetup Group

Meetup groups are a great way to meet people who have similar interests as you do. On Meetup.com you can browse pet-related groups and events in your area. Once you join a group, you’ll receive updates on local outings and events that the group is taking part in. Whenever you are interested, you can attend in person. There are general groups like “dog owners” as well as breed specific groups. In addition, there are many specialty groups like Pet CPR and First Aid, Nose Work Training, and more depending on your location.

Create a Meetup Group

If you do not see a Meetup group that interests you, you can create one of your own.

  1. Head over to Meetup.com
  2. Choose your location
  3. Choose a topic: Dogs
  4. Create a Meetup name
  5. Describe who should join and what your Meetup will do.

Get creative with your group theme. You’d be surprised to learn that there may be a number of a people in your area that are interested in the exact same things you are.

You can also search on social media for dog-friendly events in your area as well as groups that you can join. There are a ton of apps that you can use to help you find pet friendly places, places to shop for your furry friend, and a number of other resources.

Also, if you are looking to spark a summer romance there are many ways your dog can help you meet your match!

At the end of the day, summer is the perfect time to go out and meet new people (and dogs, course)! Share your adventures with us on Instagram by using #linkakc.
